Mike Pillatzki is 2010 USBC State Open
Division 1 Champion
Mike Pillatzki of Willmar is the 2010 Division 1 Singles USBC State Open Tournament Champion. Mike out scored 1540 other Division 1 bowlers (average of 185 and over) to take first place with a score of 757. Pillatzki also finished second in the Division 1 All Events with a total score from single, doubles and team events of 2033.
In Division 2 Singles, Mike Kuelbs and Ron Nyland finished tied for 6th place, Jordan Olson finished in 12th and Loren Olson was 15th of 1299 competitors in their division.
Other notable bowlers from the area finishing in the top 100 of their respective single divisions were Fransje Kuperus, Scott Klinghagen, Nicole Franzwa, Doug Lush and Clyde Strege. Local top 100 doubles division finishers were Allen Ruter/James Woods, Dennis Flann/Mike Pillatzki, Ron Nyland/Bradley Munsterman and Jason Elwood/Chuck Loso. In the top 50 of Division 1 Team event were Kandi Bowl #2, Gary Hern Agency and Kandi Bowl #1. In Division 2 Team event the Eagles #1 finished in 8th, other teams in the top 50 were Team Olson, Willmar Wood Products, Team Loso and Eagles #2. For complete results go to www.mnstatebowl.org.
Kandi Bowl was the host for this year’s tournament which brought in over 3000 bowlers from across the state and even a few from Wisconsin made the trip. The tournament ran for 15 weekends starting January 30th and ending May 9th. Next year’s tournament will be in Duluth.
